Irritable Bowel Syndrome Diet – Part 2

Following on from the previous information, there are several more points that you need to bear in mind when you are following an irritable bowel syndrome diet.

Surprisingly yogurt is one item that is possibly best left out of your daily diet. It is generally promoted as being healthy and good for the digestive system, so most people would not think to exclude it from their ibs diet. However it is a dairy product, and all dairy products should be left out of any sensible irritable bowel diet. The reason for this is that the whey, proteins casein that are found in yogurts and other dairy foods are notoriuosly difficult to digest. This will therefore be likely to make your ibs symptoms worse. Vitamins, these can be helpful or not, depending on the precise vitamin you take. Each vitamin will affect the body in a different way, some will sooth your symptoms, yet others could well aggravate it. The only way that you are going to be sure which vitamins it is safe to include in your irritable bowel syndrome diet, is to ask your doctor or physician.

One area that can often cause confusion is fibre. There are two types of fibre, both soluble and insoluble. Fruits contain insoluble as to vegetables, and often people leave these out of their diet as they are worried that they may cause problems with their ibs. However, you need to consume a certain amount of fresh fruit and vegetables to remain healthy.

Try to include soluble fibre within your diet. This can be in the form of supplements. This type of fibre is in fact a stabilizer and should always be included within an ibs diet to help keep your symptoms stable. Do not worry that soluble fibre may aggravate your symptoms as it is mainly advertised as a laxative – it is a necessary part of your diet.

One other thing to be way of is soda. You should not include carbonated drinks in your irritable bowel syndrome diet, instead drink plenty of water.
