Irritable Bowel Treatment

Irritable Bowel Treatment or IBS is one of the diseases that no-one seems to be able to categorically state why one person should suffer with it and another person have no problems.
All that we do know is that when the intestinal tract contracts in an ibs sufferer, it seems to last for a longer time, and be faster than you would expect in someone who does not suffer with ibs.  The food will be pushed through too quickly which in turn causes gas, diarrhea and bloating.
Irritable Bowel Treatment is always best discussed with your doctor first, partly because it will also help to rule out the more serious illnesses that have similar symptoms, and also because they can prescribe the most effective ibs treatment. Keeping your colon healthy is a great start.
Your doctor will probably arrange to carry out quite a few tests to make sure of the diagnosis – these can include blood tests, a colonoscopy, a flexible signoidoscopy, (which will both probably involve a day stay in hospital) and possibly a lactose intolerance test.
As the actual cause of irritable bowel syndrome is not really known, then the ibs treatment will usually be to treat the symptoms that come with the disease rather than the ibs itself.  The milder symptoms of ibs can be controlled and treated through a change in lifestyle.  This is especially true when it comes to diet as it is well documented that certain food types will make the ibs symptoms worse.
Part of your irritable bowel syndrome treatment may involve taking fibre supplements like psyllium.  This has been found to be very effective in the control of ibs symptoms, as are the many natural products for ibs that work by helping to keep your colon healthy.
Other ibs treatments will include medications to stop diarrhea, medications to stop constipation, pain-killers and sometimes anti-depressants.  There are also natural products like Aloe that can help with the symptoms.
