Alternative Healing for Irritable Bowel
Irritable bowels can be a condition that is very disruptive to your usual lifestyle. This is mainly due to the fact that the symptoms that are most associated with irritable bowels are uncomfortable and they will often need your immediate attention.
Although many turn to the more traditional medicines for relief of the symptoms, others prefer to try out the alternative therapies and natural methods to relieve the discomfort of their irritable bowel symptoms.
Some of these alternative therapies for the treatment of irritable bowel symptoms are:
1. Herbalism – The two main ways of adding herbs to your diet that have been found to help with an irritable bowel;
Herbal Teas – herbs are steeped or boiled to make drinkable teas. It is the process of steeping the herbs that releases various nutrients and enzymes which are needed to help relieve the ibs symptoms. When you drink the tea you know that you are going to get the benefit of the nutrients that you need. Some of the herbs are added to help improve the taste.
Herbal Capsules – these herbal capsules can contain either the essential nutrients of specific herbs, or they could contain essential oils of various plants. Taking the herbs, especially the oils, in the form of a capsule is beneficial as normally oils can actually make ibs symptoms worse, but taking them in capsule form means that they are able to pass through to your stomach and work directly on the instestine.
2. Acupuncture – Based round your life energy known as Oi (pronounced chi), it is believed that illness can be caused by an inbalance in your Oi. With acupuncture the therapist will attempt to restore the balance by removing the blockage. Needles are used to stimulate various pressure points within the body, and this stimulation is said to restore the balance of your Oi.
Acupuncture is also said to relieve stress and to help with relaxation, and as stress is often thought to be a contributory factor in irritable bowels it should certainly do no harm.
3. Hypnosis – It is often thought that your state of mind can affect irritable bowels, so many people use hypnosis to help them to control their ibs symptoms.
Hypnosis helps you to regain control of your subconscious, allowing you to release stress. This has been found to be very beneficial, especially in people with fairly mild irritable bowel symptoms. For information on how hypnosis can help you
